You forgot to mention that each province also has a council which acts like a parliament and where the representatives have a similar pay as in the Flemish Parliament…

See, it's that simple, regions and communities. I still don't understand why some people say this is difficult to understand!

How are you supposed to foster a sense of kinship and a sense of a bond between each other when one Belgian from Flanders can easily shun another Belgian from Wallonia by not speaking in French and thus rendering the latter unable to understand him?

In the recent Belgian match, one of the commentators said that two of the Belgian players couldn't communicate with the other players, which seems absurd.

It's not as if Belgium is that young a country, it's older than Germany and Italy, so it seems ridiculous that after around 190 years a situation hasn't been fostered whereby all Belgians are brought up trilingual in Flemish, French, and German, or at least bilingual in Flemish and French.

In political science this is explained by the concept of 'consociationalism' in Spanish 'consociacionalism' which is almost impossible for me to pronounce and it grinds my brain. I have an exam tomorrow about political systems including Belgium and I think I will fail hahaha.

I'm just going to say it, I like counting in Belgian French much better than counting in Parisian French. I really don't know much Dutch. But I know that the language issue is a touchy subject, and I completely get that. Anyway, good video, I'm someone that loves learning things like this.
